A Remediation Business Park will be created in the area, the exact boundaries of which will be determined by ministerial decision.
The procedures for the transformation of the Kalochori area of Thessaloniki from an ‘Informal Industrial Concentration’ to a Remediation Business Park are being accelerated, as the decision was signed that it “needs environmental and operational remediation”.
As a result, the largest informal industrial concentration in the country is being organized, covering an area of 11,293 hectares, with hundreds of businesses in all sectors, from manufacturing and transport to logistics.
A Remediation Business Park will be created in the area, the exact boundaries of which will be determined by ministerial decision.
As noted in the relevant decision, signed by the Minister of Environment and Energy Theodoros Skylakakis, the Deputy Minister of Development Anna Mani and the Deputy Minister of Environment and Energy Nikolaos Tagaras, which was published in Diaygeia, significant environmental and operational problems were identified in this area and the requirement is met of the legislation to create an EPE, as the sum of the surfaces covered by the built-up fields amounts to 15% of the total demarcated area and the required total area to be demarcated has an area of more than 100 acres.
The goal is the creation of a fully organized business park, which will give strong development dynamics and overall impetus to the economy of Central Macedonia.
