According to the data collected, 15 avenues and streets in Attica (Mesogeion, Filolaou, Formionos, Aristotelous, Hymettos, Michalakopoulou, Veikou, Acharnon, 3rd September, Gounari, Iroon Polytechnic, 2nd Division, Gr. Lambraki, National Resistance, El. Venizelou) face a severe problem with double parking. Controls have been intensified there and only in the last two days – Monday and Tuesday – 266 violations were confirmed by the Greek Police, which resulted in a fine and removal of traffic information from the offenders.

Specifically, on Monday, 125 violations were confirmed for double parking on Mesogeion Avenue, Filolaou, Formionos, Gounari in Piraeus and El. Venizelou in Kallithea.

On Tuesday, 141 violations were confirmed for double parking on Mesogeion Avenue, Ymitou Avenue, Michalakopoulou Avenue, Gounari Avenue in Piraeus and El. Venizelou in Kallithea.

According to the Ministry of Citizen Protection, road safety is a clear priority for the Government and tackling double parking is an integral part of planning in this direction. As they say, it becomes clear that these are not piecemeal initiatives, but a plan that will be implemented consistently, as it is linked to improving the quality of life of drivers and pedestrians and has an impact on all residents.

Intensive checks will continue in order to drastically reduce this phenomenon and to create a culture of avoidance in terms of double parking and illegal parking.
