A general meeting will be held today at 1:00 pm at the Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, in view of the deterioration of the weather. According to an announcement by the ministry, all relevant ministries, OTAs of the first and second degree, representatives of the security forces, the National Meteorological Service (NMS), as well as a group of meteorologists will participate in the general meeting. The purpose of the meeting will be to debrief and coordinate, following an update on the impending deterioration of the weather next week.

The general secretariat of Civil Protection (civilprotection.gov.gr) of the Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, has informed the competent government agencies involved in the service, as well as the regions and municipalities of the country, so that they are on increased civil protection readiness, in order to face directly the effects of the occurrence of intense weather phenomena.

In addition, according to an update from the Fire Department, the operational plan is being implemented to deal with the risks of floods, as well as their accompanying phenomena, while the Fire Services of the areas where the phenomena are expected to occur, have been placed in a state of heightened readiness and further escalation, if required, in order to deal with any problems immediately.

It is noted that according to the updated Emergency Weather Deterioration Bulletin (EDEK) issued yesterday by the National Meteorological Service (EMS), the weather is expected to deteriorate from Monday with heavy rains and storms that will affect the Western, Central and Northern Greece. The effects will be locally strong and on Monday they will be noted mainly in the western parts of Thessaly, western and central Sterea, Epirus, western Macedonia and possibly the Ionian. More areas will be affected on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Since three twenty-four hours have passed since the onset of the strong phenomena, EMY will update its emergency bulletins every twelve hours and the updates of the emergency bulletins will be a continuation of this bulletin.
