The body of a man floating in the sea area between Cape Rousa Pserimos and Kos was spotted on Saturday afternoon by the tourist boat “Captain Gero Antonis” and its captain Dimitris Anthoulis.
The Port Authorities of Kos and Kalymnos were immediately informed. A police officer of the Kalymnos Port Authority rushed to the area and located and received the body and transported it to the Port of Kalymnos and was then taken to the island’s Hospital.

The Coast Guard issued the following official statement yesterday (23/09):
The Port Authority of Kalymnos was informed at noon today (22/09) by the Unified Search and Rescue Coordination Center LS-EL.AKT. to investigate information regarding which a swimmer (of unknown identity) who had started swimming from the Turkish coast to the Greek islands, has been missing since the early hours of this morning.
The local emergency plan was immediately implemented and a LS-EL.AKT patrol boat set sail. for the marine area east of Pserimos where he identified and rounded up a young man, unconscious.
The above was taken to the port of Kalymnos and then transported by an EKAV ambulance to G.N. Kalymnos “THE BUFFALO” where his death was confirmed, while it was confirmed that the body belongs to the missing swimmer.
The body is to be transferred to the Forensic Service of Dodecanese for an autopsy, while a preliminary investigation is being conducted by the Port Authority of Kalymnos.
