The… main course of the 5th matchday of the Stoiximan Super League is served on Sunday (24/9).
In particular, four games are being played, with interest focused on “C. Karaiskakis” and Yannena, with Olympic to welcome her Kifissia and the PAOK to be hosted by PAS.
In between, the Aris-Panaitolikos and Volos-Asteras Tripoliwhile of course on Monday (25/9, 21:00) the program ends with the big derby between Panathinaikou and AEK on the Avenue.
Olympiacos-Kifisia
Kifisia will be the 69th team that Olympiacos will face in its history in the Super League/A’ National Team. The Red and Whites, who have participated in all competitions since the league’s inception in 1959-60, have only failed to beat Macedonia, who stayed for one season in the top division and both of their encounters ended in draws.
Olympiacos has played in three of its four games at home this year and has three wins without conceding a goal and with a total score of 10-0.
The last season he started without a loss and without conceding a goal in his home series was in 2020-21, when in his first five he had as many wins and a score of 12-0 after beating Asteras Tripoli (3-0) of Panaitolikos (2-0), Atromitos (4-0), Apollon Smyrna (2-0) and Panathinaikos (1-0). He also prevailed in his sixth match, but conceded a goal from Volos (4-1).
Kifissia comes from the impressive 4-4 at the stadium of Kaisariani against Panserraikos and after its start with two defeats against Ioannina and PAOK, counts a victory against Atromitos and a draw.
Aris-Panaitolikos
Aris has won four of the last six home games between them and Panaitolikos had “broken” this streak with a victory in the 2nd matchday of last year’s championship.
In their last six there is also a goalless draw on February 14, 2021, in only the third game with home team Aris in which no goal was scored in the match.
Panaitolikos did not win away from home against Aris until December 15, 2018 when it scored its only one. Malis had opened the scoring for the Agrinio team, Dighini had temporarily equalized and in the 75th minute Lucero wrote the final 1-2.
Until 2021-22, Aris had not managed to do the absolute best in its games with Panaitolikos and did so with a 5-1 victory in Thessaloniki in the first round match and 2-0 in Agrinio for the second round.
In the first appearance of Panaitolikos in the 1st National/Super League, in 1975-76, Aris prevailed at home with the biggest victory it has scored against Panaitolikos. The 6-1 came with the goals of Drabis (2), Koui, Ballis, Venou and Lazou, while for the team of Agrinio, Giakoumis had reduced the score to 2-1.
The first meeting in their history took place in December 1971 for the second round of the Greek Cup, with Aris winning and qualifying in Agrinio with 3-0 (31′ Keramidas, 44′ Alexiadis, 71′ Syropoulos).
