Today, Monday, September 25, the electronic platform opens, through gov.gr, for the new IDs. Citizens will be able to submit a request for the issuance of a new card, while the cost will be 10 euros.
Specifically, at 8.30 a.m. the operation of the id.gov.gr platform begins, in accordance with what is defined in the Joint Ministerial Decision (Government Gazette: B’ 5619) of the Ministers of Citizen Protection Yiannis Economou and Digital Governance Dimitris Papastergiou. In this way, citizens have the possibility to schedule their appointments digitally, with the availability starting from Tuesday 26/9/23, for the issuance of new types of IDs or their replacement due to changes in information, expiry, wear or seniority.
The platform was implemented by the General Secretariat of Information Systems and Digital Governance of the Ministry of Digital Governance and citizens can access it using Taxisnet codes.
Step by step the process
In his application, the interested party selects an Issuing Authority based on his address of permanent or temporary residence in Greece, a specific day and time from the availability list, so that he can be served in person, and registers the following details of the person to whom the appointment concerns: name, email address and optionally phone number. It is possible for a third party to book the appointment, however the citizen must be present in person to be served.
Upon completion of the submission of the request, an email is sent to verify the email provided by the interested party. Subsequently, he receives in the confirmed email the basic information for handling the procedure, as well as the contact details of the Issuing Authority he has chosen.
The appointment scheduling request can be rescheduled or canceled or resubmitted up to eight (8) hours in advance. Twenty-four (24) hours before and two (2) hours before the start of the scheduled appointment, the interested party receives a reminder message from the platform to the email they have registered.
*It is ensured that a time gap is maintained, between the appointments of the interested parties for the same ID Issuing Authority, sufficient for one appointment to be completed before the next one starts.
*Times and days of available appointments may change, taking into account restrictions on the opening hours and availability of the Issuing Authority, by time intervals and by job position.
*Especially in the case of loss or theft of the police identity card, the citizen should contact the competent Issuing Authority, based on the address of his permanent or temporary residence in Greece, and request the scheduling of an appointment for the issuance of a new Card.
