The EMY’s emergency bulletin has been upgraded to an emergency bulletin of dangerous weather phenomena
On alert today the authorities are in the prefectures Karditsa and Trikala as well as in the west and north of the prefecture of Larissa due to bad weather Elias which is expected to affect the regions until Thursday.

The EMY has upgraded the emergency bulletin it had issued to an emergency notice of dangerous weather phenomena as by Thursday, when it will weaken, it will have crossed all of Greece, even the Cyclades and Crete.
A message via 112 was sent to residents in the wider area of Thessaly, the Sporades, Fthiotida and North Evia about dangerous weather phenomena from Monday morning and for the next two 24 hours.

According to the Emergency Weather Bulletin issued in the early hours of Monday, September 25, 2023 by the National Meteorological Service (NMS), the severe weather system that will cause heavy rains and storms accompanied by hail and a high frequency of lightning, receives the name Elias.
Closed schools in Thessaly
Closed Schools will remain closed, by decision of the Ministry of Education, until Wednesday, September 27.
The courses will be held via distance learning while the schools of the Municipalities/Regions of Palamas, Farkadona, Megali Kalyvia, Falani, workers’ homes of Giannoulis, Armeniou and Kypselis are excluded, where the conditions do not contribute, for the time being, to the digital communication of students and teachers.
Regarding the exempted areas, we underline that the assessment of the conditions prevailing in Thessaly will be continuous and will be constantly updated.
6 aerial vehicles and 3 ships from the Navy are on standby, while all the personnel of the “Xenokratis” Project are on alert.
The works for the restoration of embankments in the Farsalitis River and in areas of Palamas, as well as the cleaning of transported materials in the Kalentzis River of Karditsa and in the “Thousand Trees” area, are being continued by machines of the Region of Thessaly.
Furthermore, interventions on the Yiannouli bridge and the Enipeas river are being completed, with an emphasis on the embankments, work continues on the mountain network of Pelion, as well as in the prefectures of Trikala and Karditsa, and interventions are carried out on the mountain and plain road network.

On Monday (25-09-2023) rains and locally strong storms will occur mainly in Thessaly, as well as in western Macedonia, the western parts of central Macedonia and central Sterea. Temporarily it is likely that the Ionian, Epirus, western Sterea and northern Peloponnese will be affected. It is noted that in Thessaly the highest rainfall levels will occur in the prefectures of Karditsa and Trikala as well as in the west and north of the prefecture of Larissa.
On Tuesday (26-09-2023) rains and strong storms in places are predicted in the Ionian, the mainland (except central and eastern Macedonia and Thrace) and towards the evening hours in the Sporades and northern Evia. In Thessaly, the highest rainfall levels will occur in the prefectures of Karditsa, Trikala, Magnesia and in the southern parts of the prefecture of Larissa.
On Wednesday (27-09-2023) rain is forecast for almost the entire country, while locally strong storms will occur in the Ionian, the mainland (mainly in Thessaly, Sterea and the Peloponnese), the Sporades, Evia, western Crete and possibly in the western Cyclades. It is pointed out that in Thessaly the highest rainfall levels will occur in Karditsa prefecture and in the eastern parts of Magnesia prefecture.
On Thursday (28-09-2023) the phenomena will gradually weaken. Until noon, locally heavy rains and storms will occur in the Sporades, Magnesia, northern Evia, and the northeastern parts of Sterea.
