Guilty, by majoritywas decided today at noon by the Three-member Court of Misdemeanors of Eastern Crete, the anesthesiologist for the case of the death of 4-year-old Melina Paraskakiwho was admitted to the Venizelio Hospital of Heraklion for a “routine” surgery and died.

The anesthesiologist was sentenced to 18 months in prison, while two mitigating factors were recognized for her, that of previous cohabitation and good behavior after the act.

Upon hearing the decision, the father of the 4-year-old girl burst into tears, saying that yes “the fight he fought for so many years with his family was justified”, however “it is not a victory since my child is not coming back”.

From the side of the anesthesiologist’s defense lawyers, it became known that an appeal will be filed against the decision.

The anesthesiologist was accused in the death of the four-year-old girl after routine surgery in 2015.

The defendant claimed during her statement that the the girl’s death was due to anaphylactic shock and that she had no responsibility.

We remind you how the anesthesiologist was found not guilty in the first instance, however, after the intervention of the former Prosecutor of the Supreme Court, Isidoros Dogiakos, the case file was reopened.
