Ice Cream Day, celebrated this Saturday (23), coincides with the beginning of spring and, this year, it arrives with record temperatures. This weekend promises to be the hottest in history in São Paulo, with a forecast of 38ºC.
New ice cream parlors in the capital of São Paulo offer artisanal cones, cakes made from ice cream and focus on Brazilian fruit flavors to help cool you down on hot days. Discover five of them below.

Brazilian Ice Cream
Ice creams made only with water and fruit are the highlight of the restaurant, which opened this month in Vila Buarque. Most flavors are vegan and include orange, cashew with cashews and hibiscus with lemon and cinnamon. The apple one is refreshing and combines with the milk-based vanilla or chocolate one. Cups cost from R$11 to R$22 and can be enjoyed on beach chairs in the lounge, facing a tree-lined square.

Babaê Gelato
Gabriela Guirro’s parents opened an ice cream shop when she was still a child. Growing up around ice cream production, she decided to open her own place, in Pinheiros, this year. There, you can see the creation of frozen desserts in the room decorated with colorful licks. Inventive flavors appear, such as banana with Nutella, banoffee, cookies, Snickers, s’mores and alcoholic drinks. The cone costs R$16 to R$20.

Momo Gelato
The Rio gelateria arrived in São Paulo and is already gathering queues on Rua Oscar Freire, in a corner townhouse. Among the flavors, there are classics like vanilla and Belgian chocolate — a small cup, for one or two flavors from the traditional line, costs R$21. The highlight is the pies made with ice cream. One of them is the white forest, which contains dough and white chocolate and cherry shavings (R$ 20 per slice).

Located in the Copan building, it operates as a café and bakery from Tuesday to Sunday and also as an ice cream parlor from Wednesday onwards. The soft, creamy ice creams are served in a cornmeal cone in two flavors, one rotating and one fixed: vanilla with cupuaçu in syrup, sweet farofa, piece of dulce de leche with fleur de sel and chocolate ganache (R$ 19 ).

Tre Bimbi
After taking a gelato course in Bologna, at the beginning of 2020, food engineer Fernanda Jimenez imported a machine to make the frozen dessert and formulated her own recipe. Alongside her husband, Marcelo Velloso, she opened the store, which also offers naturally fermented bread and Italian sweets. Ice creams (from R$ 16.50) are offered in different flavors, such as pistachio, coffee, guava, persimmon and jabuticaba.
