Today, a day was held on the subject of the creation, promotion and exploitation of the historical and contemporary archives of the GSEE and in general of the trade unions of the country, in the auditorium of the Confederation.
The conference took place in the framework of the implementation of a project by its Labor Institute GSEE and concerns the rescue, compilation, promotion, exploitation and digitization of the historical and contemporary archives of the trade unions.
The president of GSEE, Yiannis Panagopoulos, referring to the specific project, pointed out that “the aim of this action is the utilization by the unions themselves, the workers, the scientific community, the researchers and the collectives, of the older as well as the modern archives of the daily union action.
The history of the GSEE and the unions, he added, must be known to young people and every citizen”.
The implementation of the project started 3.5 years ago, it was staffed by notable scientists, who today presented the work that has been done so far.
“This particular effort is not only aimed at highlighting the historical records but also the contemporary ones, because the action of today becomes the history of tomorrow”.
This was pointed out by the Director General of INE/GSEE Christos Goulas. Mr. Goulas also emphasized that the archive is not only an institutional memory but a living, active, historical and contemporary documentary material.
The basis of support for this particular project was the ARISTOS trade union history archive of the GSEE, which was created in 1996 and fed the project with its archival material.
