Italian star Luisa Ranieri, who played the emotionally disturbed Aunt Patricia in Paolo Sorrentino’s The Hand of God, has joined the cast of the film “Modì” directed by Johnny Depp.

Filming on the film about Italian artist Amedeo Modigliani has begun in Budapest, according to Variety.

Ranieri he stars in the film ‘Modì’ alongside Italian Riccardo Scamarzio, who plays the bad boy painter and sculptor who worked mainly in France and became famous for his avant-garde modern style of portraits and nudes.

Ranieri plays Rosalie, owner of an Italian cafe in Paris who was painted by Modigliani.

Al Pacino he plays the art collector Maurice Gagna, while French actor Pierre Ninet plays the French painter Maurice Utriault, who was a close friend of Modigliani.

Modì is Depp’s second feature and marks his return to the director’s chair 25 years after The Brave, in which he also co-starred with Marlon Brando.

Depp recently starred as Louis XV in Jeanne Du Barry by Jeanne-le-Besco, his first role since his 2022 defamation trial against ex-wife Amber Heard.
