As he mentions, among other things, in his post, the specific area has given similar sequences in the past
The director of the Geodynamic Institute, Akis Tselentis, considers the possibility of an earthquake of up to 4.8 Richter in the area that has been stimulated in the sea area north of Xylokastro to be “probable”.
As he states in a post on his personal Facebook account “this area has in the past produced corresponding sequences with a maximum size sometimes of 4.8R. I consider it possible for this to happen.”
Mr. Tselentis, however, after informing about two modern radon stations that monitor seismicity in the area on a 24-hour basis, asks that there be no panic.
His post in detail:
“The microseismicity in the sea area N. of Xylokastro continues this 24 hours as well (see the map). This region has previously yielded corresponding sequences with a maximum size sometimes of 4.8R. I consider it possible for this to happen… But the fact that we are talking about Anat. Corinthian which has a burdened seismic history and in this period trends have accumulated, we must be careful.
Geodynamic has thickened its network in the area and installed two modern radon stations that it monitors on a 24-hour basis. Geodynamic collaborates with all University Seismological laboratories and with the OASP for the optimal utilization of the measurements within the framework of the National Seismological Network.
You can follow the evolution of the sequence in REAL TIME from the Geodynamic website (https://www.gein.noa.gr).
Please DON’T PANIC THERE IS NO REASON!
(**) Listen to the experts and not to the “alleged” people who don’t have a single seismograph in the area and are speculating to “show” the world’s anxiety.”
