For the second time in the last few days the residents of the areas of the Regional Units Karditsa and Trikalaalthough they have not yet managed to heal the wounds left behind by the storm Daniel, this time they were faced with the devastating effects of the new storm “Elias”.

The heavy rains and storms resulted in villages in the Municipality of Palamas being at risk of new floods.

According to statements to APE-MPE by the deputy governor of Karditsa, Mr. Konstantinos Noussios, the village of Orfana in the Municipality of Palamas, was flooded, with water covering every part of the village, while according to him interventions were being made throughout the night to avoid flooding in other villages as well. As the mayor of Palamas, Mr. Giorgos Sakellariou, also emphasizes to APE-MPE, the situation in the municipality so far is manageable, “but during the day we don’t know what will happen as the waters are coming”. We are on the lookout for all the villages, he also emphasizes.

In the Regional Unit of Trikala and in the Municipality of Trikkaia there were no flooding phenomena as with the bad weather Daniel, with the mayor of Trikkaia Mr. Nikos Sakka emphasizing to APE-MPE how everything is fine, controlled without problems.

In Larissa problems were created by the floods in many areas of the prefecture, mainly in Municipalities of Killeler and Farsala.

The last village to be evacuated in the early hours of the morning was Achillio of Farsalon, while there were quite a few villages in Larissa that took last night until the early hours of today to be evacuated.

Since last night, the operations of the Larissa Fire Service have been continuous, trying to deal with the flooding phenomena once again.

Yesterday, a new message was sent from 112 so that several villages can be evacuated. The activation of 112 concerned the areas of Anochori, Katochori, Vasili, Hyperia, Mikro Evdrio, Megalo Evdrio, Pyrgakia, Polineri and Stavros for evacuation to Farsala, due to flooding.

The water level of Pinios has risen dangerously to around 4 meters, while it exceeded 6 meters in Lake Karla, causing concern.
