Six hundred million euros will be allocated from the reassignment of the Recovery and Resilience Fund to implement as quickly as possible interventions in road projects and schools in areas affected by the bad weather Daniel, Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Christos Staikouras told SKAI 100.3.

He said that of these resources, 187 million will be allocated to the railway network.

He clarified that all resources available for infrastructure projects do not burden public finances.

He stated that indicatively 472 autopsies have been performed, 981 km of roads have been checked, it appears that there is damage to 79 bridges, over 70 km of road network, technical works with 130 damages, and parts of the railway network with 16 damages while there are 79 flooded schools.

Mr. Staikouras pledged that the major infrastructure projects will be implemented in the schedule stated in the program statements, mentioning among other things that the Metro in Thessaloniki will be operational in 2024.

He stated at the same time that the will of the government is to create two metropolitan agencies in the next two years that will be responsible for traffic in Attica and Thessaloniki.

He emphasized that the aim is to simultaneously improve the fleet of public transport to make use of it, so that citizens are not inconvenienced.

He admitted that the bus fleet is old. He promised that in four years all possibilities will be exhausted and we will have 1,300 new green buses, while he pointed out that there are also provisions for the electric railway.
