War sirens will sound in a few days in our country due to the “Parmenion” exercise of the GEETHA.
Shortly after 11am on Monday 2 October, alarm sirens will sound across the country.
The sirens of the Civil Defense network will be activated in the context of the National Cross-Sector Exercise “PARMENION”, marking the start of “war” operations.
The “Parmenion” exercise was designed and is managed by the Greek Defense Ministry and is expected to be completed on October 4.
In the exercise which is carried out on a 24-hour basis, in addition to the General Staff, the major administrations, the formations and units, the Security Forces as well as the bodies of the Civil Sector participate to the extent required according to the plan.
The main objectives of the exercise, according to the announcement, were defined as:
– The adaptation of the business plan to the situation shaped by international developments in the immediate and wider environment of our country.
– Practicing the design and conduct of cross-industry operations in accordance with the Doctrine of Cross-industry Operations.
– The implementation of the procedures of the Crisis Management System and the National Alert System, as well as the corresponding Pallaic Defense Alert System – Emergency Planning Policy of the GHETHA.
– The promotion of cooperation and coordination between the Branches of the Armed Forces, the bodies of the Civil Sector and the Security Forces during the implementation of the National Plans.
Sirens in Thessaloniki too
War sirens will sound in Thessaloniki next Monday as part of the TAAS exercise “ANTIOCHOS 2023”.
The sirens will sound next Monday, October 2 at 11:00 in the morning and also at 11:30, as throughout the territory, as part of the exercise.
From the Independent Department of P.AM.-P.S.E.A. of the Central Macedonia Region, the following are announced:
As part of the TAAS Exercise “ANTIOCHOS 2023”, on Monday October 2, 2023, a trial activation of the Civilian Population Early Warning System will take place throughout the Territory, including all Civil Defense Alarm Sirens (SS) as well as church bells, as below:
a. 11:00 local time, air raid warning signal, for a duration of (60) seconds (intermittent sound of different intensity) throughout the Territory.
b. Local time 11:05, marking the end of the alarm, for a duration of (60) seconds (continuous sound of constant volume) throughout the Territory.
c. Local time 11:30 a.m., Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear (CBRP) threat warning signal for a duration of (120) seconds (intermittent sound of different intensity) throughout the Territory.
d. Local time 11:35 signaling the end of the alarm, for a duration of (60) seconds (continuous sound of constant volume) throughout the Territory.
e. Local time 12:40 CBRP alarm signal of attack, for a duration of (120) seconds (intermittent sound of different intensity) in the Regional Unit of Thessaloniki.
f. Local time 12:45 signaling the end of the alarm, for a duration of (60) seconds (continuous sound of constant volume) in the Regional Unit of Thessaloniki.
g. Local time 12:50 warning sign of CBRN threat warning, for a duration of (120) seconds (intermittent sound of different intensity) in the Regional Unit of Thessaloniki.
h. Local time 12:55 signaling the end of the alarm, for a duration of (60) seconds (continuous sound of constant volume) in the Regional Unit of Thessaloniki.
It is pointed out that the Civilian Early Warning System with the simultaneous ringing of the bells of the Holy Temples of the Territory will be tested for the first time in such an area. The activation of the Civil Defense Alarm Sirens is for a purely test purpose and therefore there is no reason for confusion, concern or panic.
