Briefing by the Deputy Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, responsible for Natural Disaster Response and State Aid, Christos Triandopoulos and the Commander of the 5th Health Region, Fotis Seretis
“All actions to manage and restore the adverse effects of extreme and unprecedented flooding phenomena that hit Thessaly are continuing at the same pace. The process of supporting the victims through the state aid process is progressing. Today, the second payment of the first aid is madewithin this week, through the arogi.gov.gr platform,” he said the Deputy Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, responsible for Natural Disaster Response and State Aid, Christos Triantopoulos from the Business Coordination Center in Larissa.
As he explained, today’s payment concerns 575 beneficiaries for a total of 2.5 million euros. Thus, a total of 11.1 million euros have been paid this week. And in total, so far, 36.7 million euros have been paid to 6,648 beneficiaries.
Mr. Triandopoulos noted that the payment of first aid to businesses has now begun, following the information received from the Region of Thessaly.
Specifically, from today’s payment, an amount of 558,000 corresponds to 173 businesses of the Region of Thessaly and, in particular, of the Regional Unit of Trikala, where the vast majority of cases are based. Therefore, depending on the flow of data from the Region, the payment of first aid to businesses will proceed accordingly.
At the same time, the State Aid Committees of the Regions of Thessaly and Central Greece continue the task of recording the autopsies for the businesses that were affected, with a total of 5,524 applications and 3,383 autopsies as of last Thursday.
In addition to businesses, through the first aid platform support is also provided to livestock units. Corresponding figures are therefore expected from ELGA, so that next week the payments of the first aid to livestock units will begin.
Mr. Triandopoulos stated that applications to the first aid platform, arogi.gov.gr, continue, but – now – at a reduced rate. Until recently, 30,090 finalized applications have been made, while 4,721 provisional applications have also been made.
At the same time, the process of cross-examination by the staff of the General Secretariat for Natural Disaster Recovery and State Aid continues. Through this process, it emerges that a significant number of these applications do not respond to beneficiaries, while there are also cases where the process is attempted to be misled. He emphasized that the procedure followed has insurance valves that ensure that the aid will go to those who need it and are entitled to it.
As he said, AADE has not stopped the process of automatic identification in the villages that have been significantly affected. In this direction, with regard to the work of AADE, a relevant message was sent to everyone a few days ago to submit their IBAN to their tax information, so that they can receive the aid. “Some responded, but many did not. “, write down.
Scheme of state aid for the second flood phenomenon
Mr. Triandopoulos mentioned that unfortunately, Thessaly was affected within a few days by the previous and second extreme flooding phenomenon. Mainly Volos, but also other areas of Thessaly, Central Greece and the rest of the country. And for this a second flood phenomenon is predicted and the state aid scheme has been activatedwith:
- – support for the coverage of household goods and basic needs through the Municipalities this time, through extraordinary funding that will be granted to them
- – grant to businesses to cover losses through cooperation with the Region, and
- – provision of housing assistance for the buildings that have been damaged by the General Directorate for Rehabilitation of Effects from Natural Disasters.
And all other relevant measures apply.
All those involved are working intensively so that the project progresses and the state aid reaches all those who are entitled to it, he emphasized.
