“Elections are recruiting. And a five-year contract that I will sign and honor”, stressed the mayor of Athens
“Athens is a serious matter, it requires serious interest and dialogue. A month and a half before the elections, a party, any party, cannot search for the logic of “what will I do, how will we go to find someone to put him “in front” because all he cares about is to serve his petty political plan. We must all respect Athens. It is an honor and a heavy responsibility for me to serve her. To “serve” the 650,000 Athenians who are also my “bosses”. And the greatest satisfaction is that every day something is done that relieves and makes their lives easier”, emphasized the Mayor of Athens, Kostas Bakoyannis talking on his television and the show “Morning” with Giorgos Autias.
Specializing in the concept of respect that must be shown to the city and the Athenians, before and after the elections, he noted: “I cannot want to talk about Agios Artemios, about Thymarakia, about Gyzi, about Ampelokipi and from the other side to have a theoretical conversation, abstract. A conversation in which we could say the same thing, whether we are talking about Athens, whether we are talking about Paris or Barcelona… I am not looking for rivals but partners, we must all be together in the city council, but it is important to feel the city and get to know the city”.
Mr. Bakoyiannis noted that for each of the many things that were done in the previous term, there are many more that need to be done. With a program and a plan, but also the experience accumulated in the previous 4 years and the work was done in the center and in each of the 129 neighborhoods, and it is absolutely measurable.
Indicatively, he mentioned the creation of clinics in all seven municipal departments with the aim of developing all of them into polyclinics that will provide full primary health care to all Athenians.
For the day after the elections, he set as a priority to complete the large program of upgrading the school buildings of Athens with an emphasis on energy upgrading as well as on the transformation of their concrete courtyards into green oases, with multiple benefits overall for the city.
“We take what we do seriously and we believe that the project should unite us all”, noted Mr. Bakoyannis, while he repeated his commitment that his re-election also means taking on the responsibility of serving Athens for a full term.
The Mayor of Athens recalled the precedent of the 2019 elections when his opponents essentially left the Municipality for other positions, pointing out that “the 650,000 Athenians hire you to do a job. Elections are recruitment. And a five-year contract that I will sign and honor.”
