“Clinic is sending an SOS, twenty patients are using these lousy toilets” reports the Secretary of the Hospital Employees Association
Images of shame in the Psychiatric Clinic of Agia Olga Hospital with dirty toilets, dripping walls and ceilings.
On SKAI television, the president of the hospital’s workers, Dora Kouna, spoke about the miserable situation in which 20 patients are forced to live and doctors and nurses are forced to work.
“It was a beautiful building, at the moment it is a dangerous building for both patients and workers, the walls are falling, water is dripping into the space, this situation cannot happen anymore, something has to change.”
“Twenty patients are forced to use these toilets”
For his part, Mr. Avramidis Dimitris, Secretary of the Workers’ Association, stated that “the administration of the hospital has assured us that there is a study which has been sent to the ministry and…we are waiting”. “The clinic broadcasts SOS, and in addition to psychiatry, the hospital’s archive is also housed. The situation is tragic first for the patients and then for the rest,” he commented.
“Right now we have 20 patients who are forced to use these toilets you see,” he added.
Finally, Mr. Alonisiotis Theodoris, a doctor at the Constantopoulios unit, said that the service of the relevant ministry had come to the hospital three years ago and had promised us that there was funding for psychiatric hospitals, but nothing ever happened.”
