One hundred and twenty thousand properties are getting ultra-high speeds, through the Smart Readiness Vouchers program of the Ministry of Digital Governance. It is an important project with a social and developmental model, with a total budget of €100,000,000, financed by the “Greece 2.0 Recovery and Resilience Fund” and implemented by the M.A.E.

Those interested through the smartreadiness.gov.gr platform can submit their application until Monday, June 30, 2025, for the buildings that are eligible under the Action “Infrastructure Readiness for Smart Buildings (Smart Readiness)”.

The aim of the Program is to upgrade the “smart readiness” of the country’s existing building stock through the creation of modern digital infrastructures. In this way, the penetration of ultra-high-speed broadband services in buildings and their interconnection with “smart” meters of utility networks (electricity, natural gas) will be enhanced without the need for significant additional work on the part of utility network managers.

In practical terms, this means that after the upgrade there is the possibility to install and communicate with appropriate sensors that will provide data on building security, monitor proper operation and provide measurements on the environmental footprint of the buildings most basic communal facilities, such as the boiler room central heating and the lift.

Eligible buildings are single-family houses and multi-family houses based on the following conditions:

-They are within the Intervention Area
-They do not already have indoor optical cabling
-Buildings owned by the State, Public Legal Entities (Public Law Legal Entities) and Private Law Legal Entities (LPL Entities) of the wider Public Sector are not eligible and are excluded from the action.

For the inclusion of a building in the Program, the administrator selects an installer from among those registered in the Program Registry, who operates in the area where the building is located. Next, the installer visits the building, identifies the work to be performed and submits the offer to the Manager. After acceptance by the Administrator of the offer, the installer undertakes to submit a Voucher application, according to the program guide

It is worth noting that the buildings to be subsidized result from the data submitted by the telecommunications providers. The amount of the aid depends on the floors that make up the building and the eligible works, with the indicative average of the aid amount being 840.00 euros.
