During the day, in France, the launch takes place of the state-of-the-art frigate “Kimon”, the first Greek Belharra.

The French manufacturer Naval Group posted an image on Monday showing the frigate having “raised” the Greek flag. “Stay tuned” is typically mentioned in the caption.

THE Minister of National Defense Nikos Dendias will visit France today Wednesday. As announced, he will be received at 14:30 local time, at Lann-Bihoué Air Base, by his counterpart Sebastien Lecornou.

Afterwards, Mr. Dendias will go to its facilities Naval Group in Lorientwhere he will be welcomed by the head of the GEN Vice-Admiral Ioannis Drymousis PN and will inspect the shipbuilding works of the frigate “Nearchos”.

Subsequently, at 16:00 local time, the Minister of National Defense, accompanied by his French counterpart and the head of the General Staff, will visit the “Kimon” frigate and attend its launching ceremony.

At 17:00 local time, Mr. Dendias will also go to her base Navy Special Operations Force of France in the region, in which he will have a bilateral meeting with the Minister of Defense of France.

Finally, at 18:30 local time, Mr. Dendias will proceed to the Naval Base of the Navy in Lorient, where he will meet with the commander and his staff.

The new and advanced Kimon-class FDI frigates, according to Naval Group’s schedule, will be delivered in a very short time, starting from 2025 for the first two surface units “KIMON” and “NEARCHOS” and in 2026 for the third “FORMION” frigate.
