A 25-year-old experienced a nightmare from Syria in a house in Sykies. The young man, in his attempt to find a job, agreed with a man but when he refused the work offered to him – to transport illegal foreigners – he was beaten, robbed and blackmailed to bring them more money to let him go.

Specifically, in the early hours of yesterday, the 25-year-old complained that earlier that day, after a phone call he had with a 31-year-old from Syria in order to facilitate his finding a job, he went to an apartment in the area of ​​Sykes, where there were four other people.

When he refused to transport foreigners, they started beating him, while the 31-year-old threatened him with a pistol and one of the perpetrators slightly injured him with a sharp object. They then took away the amount of 800 euros and his personal documents and belongings, while at the same time they demanded that he pay them the sum of 4,000 euros, issuing threats against his life.

Police officers from the local Security Department with the assistance of the Crime Prevention and Suppression Department, conducted a search at the house, where they identified and arrested two foreigners aged 21 and 19.

Inside the house, they found and confiscated:

• A sum of money of 2,480 euros and 60 Turkish liras,
• Burglary tools (axe and metal blades),
• Amount of unknown tobacco substance and small amount of cannabis and
• Various documents and objects, the origin of which is being investigated.

The two arrested will be taken to the competent Prosecutor, while the investigation continues to identify the other perpetrators.
