An extortion attempt against a 17-year-old from Albania was investigated by police officers of the Extortion Prosecution Department of the Thessaloniki Security Directorate, as part of an ex officio preliminary investigation.

For the case the details of four people involved were identified, and they were arrested in a coordinated operation by police officers of the above-mentioned service, assisted by echelons of the Crimes Against Life, Crimes Against Property, Direct Intervention and Drug Prosecution Departments of Eastern Thessaloniki of the Security Directorate of Thessaloniki and a police dog of the Sub-Directorate of Special Forces of Northern Greece.

They are peers of the patient, of Greek originagainst whom a case file was filed, as the case may be, for criminal organization – gang, attempted grievous bodily harm, attempted extortion and violations of the Laws relating to addictive substances and the regulation of issues regarding weapons, ammunition, explosives, explosive mechanisms and other provisions .

As it emerged from the research, the perpetrators, at noon on Monday, September 18, 2023, in the wider area of ​​Thermi, proceeded with an armed attack against the victim and with use of physical violence injured himwhile at gunpoint they demanded the payment of an increased amount of money, as repayment after a previous transaction of narcotics they had.

The patient, then, had gone to an on-call nursing facility for first aid and left.

After the arrest of the individuals involved in the case on the morning of Wednesday, October 4, searches followed in their homes, where the following were found and confiscated:

  • Garments that place two of them at the scene of the attack,
  • 2 air guns with their accessories,
  • Lots of plastic and metal balls,
  • 8 knives,
  • 2 folding metal bars,
  • Improvised packages of cannabis with a total weight of 187.6 grams,
  • 2 cannabis graters,
  • 3 easy-to-use precision electronic scales,
  • Pepper spray and
  • Helmet.

Those arrested, with the case filed against them, will be taken to the competent Prosecutor.
