The New Digital Planetarium reopened its gates to the public, after the completion of the works to upgrade the image and sound systems, turning the viewing into an impressively realistic journey into the Universe. The new digital projection system, 4th generation, multiplies the brightness and resolution of the image, bringing Space “inside” the room. The Planetarium of the Eugenides Foundation, one of the best and most important planetariums in the world, continues to pioneer in the technical field as well, bringing to Greece cutting-edge technology, making the viewing even more impressive and thus the uptake of the educational content more immediate.

With the significant investment of the upgrade, the Eugenides Foundation creates new data by firmly supporting the important educational, scientific and social role played by the New Digital Planetarium in Greek society by promoting scientific literacy, developing a deeper understanding and perception of the Universe and consequently of the position of man in the world.

The eight new 4th generation high-definition laser projectors with a total resolution of 7.5K upgrade the Dome of the New Digital Planetarium to one of the brightest in the world. At the same time, extensive work was carried out to upgrade the sound systems with the latest generation equipment, new computers, new automation systems, new LED lights, software was upgraded and wireless headphones were added for listening in English, for the foreign guests.

The Planetarium of the Eugenides Foundation marks this year 20 years of digital operation and almost 60 years of educational offer, with more than 7 million visitors in total. Its continuous technological upgrading ranks it as one of the best Planetariums in the world, with a very important educational and social footprint.
