A police officer was arrested. who is accused of human trafficking, drug trafficking, dereliction of duty, breach of professional secrecy and violation of weapons laws

A 23-year-old foreigner was also arrested for the case, similarly accused of human trafficking, as well as forgery.

In particular, in the early morning hours on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, in the center of Athens, OPKE police officers. they spotted the police officer together with other people, driving a vehicle in the Athens area and during the control carried out, in his possession a knife, a full-face cap, a private pistol and 16 cartridges were found and confiscated.

The police officer was brought to the headquarters of the Athens Security Sub-Directorate, where evidence was found in his possession that substantiated the crime of human trafficking and the violation of arms and drug laws, while in addition evidence was found from applications of the Hellenic Police, the possession of which was not justified based on of his official duties.

From the analysis of the evidence, which was examined following a relevant order of the Athens District Attorney, the actions of the police officer in the above illegal activities were determined.

From the subsequent searches at his houses, the 23-year-old foreigner was also located and arrested, while -among others- the following were found and confiscated:

33- cartridges,
magazine,
3 mobile phones,
photocopies of passport and identity card and
fake ID with details of the 23-year-old.
It is noted that the police officer is already under investigation for another disciplinary offense.

Those arrested were taken to the competent prosecuting authority.
