The Prosecutor charged the man from Syria who was arrested yesterday by OPKE forces when he entered shouting and having a knife in his possession, to I.N. Agios Panteleimonas in the center of Athens.

The foreigner was referred to be tried in Autoforos, accused of illegal carrying of weapons, resistance against authority and public service disruption.

Syros was brought yesterday afternoon from the Holy Church of Agios Panteleimon in the center of Athens.

In more detail, according to ELAS, yesterday afternoon, the accused entered the Temple, having a knife in his possession. OPKE police officers immediately arrived at the scene, managing to remove him from the interior of the Temple, despite his strong resistance, while the knife was found and confiscated from the physical searches.

As it emerged from the preliminary investigation by the police officers of the Police Department, with the assistance of an Officer of the Sub-Directorate of State Security, the arrested person had entered the country illegally and was deprived of the necessary travel documents provided for entry and stay in Greek territory.
