The public prosecutor’s intervention was caused by a publication about the deaths of two children of a family from Kato Achaia. The girls, aged 20 days and two months, passed away within a year, raising questions about the causes of their deaths.

The head of the Appellate Prosecutor’s Office of Patras, Nikos Nikolaou, instructed the First Instance Prosecutor’s Office to carry out a preliminary examination of the case, according to exclusive information from pelop.gr

The order for further investigation was given given the existence of a fait accompli, which is the death of the 20-day-old infant, in the summer of 2022 in Kato Achaia, an area that falls under the jurisdiction of the Prosecutor’s Office. In addition, the prosecutor’s investigation, as stated by sources, was imperative since there is a fact and we also have a precedent – ​​a reference to the Pispirigou case – to initiate the proceedings, so that “there are no clouds”.

And while the investigation into the causes of the deaths is at an early stage, according to information from the “Peloponnisos” newspaper, begins genetic testing that will concern the cases of the two babiesas it is estimated that there is a genetic background. The control process is feasible, as there is “material” available. Samples have already been taken for the two-month-old girl who ended up last week at the Athens Children’s Hospital “Agia Sophia”, while there are also tissues from the newborn, as the histological examination has not yet been completed.

The 20-day-old girl, according to the recording of the incident by the Kato Achaia Police Department, was found in the morning hours of June 19, 2022, unconscious in her crib, in the house where she lived with her mother. After his birth, June 1st, it was deemed necessary for him to stay in an incubator for a few days at the General State Hospital of Patras “Agios Andreas” and as “P” wrote yesterday, after the discharge she received, it was recommended to the mother to nurse the baby encephalogram. As she states, there was no information about the existence of any serious health problem. The appointment for the preventive medical examination that never took place, as the infant ended up, was scheduled for June 27.

Referring to what preceded the loss of the second child last week, the 23-year-old mother said: “Five days before the very serious incident, we were told that the child has epilepsy, the child had taken medicine on the 23 :00 and spasmed again. The doctors said to increase the dosage of the medicine and the next day the child left.” Yesterday, the little angel was buried.
