Why the authorities proceeded to arrest a 50-year-old man for the fire in the apartment building in Heraklion
Important police “background” is said to be the cause of the fire that broke out shortly before 2pm on Friday in the basement of an apartment building in the area of Messampelia in Heraklion, Crete.
It is recalled that along with the fire, the explosions that could be heard from the area, caused a disturbance but also a large mobilization of the Fire Department and the police.
According to Cretalive information, in the basement where the fire allegedly occurred, authorities found bullet traces and debris and other evidence pointing to an illegal retreading lab. In fact, it is characteristic that – according to our information – some findings even refer to anti-aircraft missiles with a diameter of 50 mm.
The same information sources report that three weapons were also located and confiscated, while the police proceeded to arrest a 50-year-old man.
A strong force of the Fire Department rushed to the scene, with 6 vehicles and 15 men, and threw themselves into the fight to put out the fire, both in the basement and in other areas of the apartment building, where, according to information, the flames spread. At the same time, 7 people were freed using a special ladder truck.
