Sadness in the journalistic family. The deceased lost his battle with cancer at the age of 69
The journalistic family mourns the loss of a special member: Dimitris Evangelidemos, one of the most consistent and intact print media workers, with years of career at the iconic Lambrakis Press Organization, passed away at the age of 69, after a brave but unequal battle with cancer.
Dimitris Evaggelodimos worked for almost four decades in the media field, while he was editor-in-chief for many years at the newspaper “To Vima” and editorial director at the magazine “Economic Postman”. He ended his journalistic career as director of the financial newspaper “Kerdos”. He was particularly fond of historical study and research and had written four books. The daughter of the deceased is the journalist Eleni Evaggelodimou, who covers political reporting in the newspaper “Ta Nea”.
His life and work
Dimitris Theof. Evangelidemos was born in Karpenisi in 1954, studied accounting at the Athens Institute of Technology and Statistics at the Higher Industrial School of Piraeus. He worked for 37 years as a journalist: in “Exormisis”, “Eleftheri Gnomi”, “Romiosyni”, “Nea”, radio station “Top FM”, as editor-in-chief in “Vima” and “Economic Post” and completed his journalistic career as director of “Profit”.
At the same time, he edited magazines and sectoral newspapers (Apodimos, To Vima ton Biotechnon, Ektelonistika News, Ektelonistis, Evrytania today, Karpenisiotika) and reorganized the daily Cypriot political newspaper “Agon”. For a time, he worked at the General Secretariat of the Press, from where he resigned, considering the position of a civil servant incompatible with the status of a journalist.
He had the Botsi Foundation Award to his credit for “the successful recording of economic news and the objective information of public opinion».
He was also awarded by the Municipality of Karpenisi “for his great writing work and for his valuable contribution to the field of letters”. He was a member of the Association of Editors of Athens Daily Newspapers (ESHEAA). He participated in numerous seminars and conferences as a lecturer and was active in social institutions and associations.
His works
- “19 Days – The Last Flash of the Civil War”
- “The Children of Bagelios”
- “Thanasis Karpenisiotis”
- “Kerdoos Hermes stopped at Karpenisi”
The funeral of Dimitris Evangelidomos will take place on Monday, October 30, at 11 am, at the Holy Church of the Transfiguration of Sotiros (Volos 1), in Chalandri, Attica.
