After a small explosion, the authorities found a makeshift workshop for the repair of firearms and ammunition in a basement storage area of ​​an apartment building in Heraklion, which he rented man who was arrested.

According to the police, the laboratory was located immediately after the fire was extinguishedwhen an autopsy was performed on the site and an investigation was carried out by a team of the Fire Service and police officers of the Heraklion Police Department and the Heraklion Criminal Investigation Office.

More specifically, during this investigation, three military rifles, a submachine gun, a pistol, 27 full cartridges of various calibers, a mechanical press for retreading cartridges with its complete parts, were found and confiscated. 43 metal firearm magazines of various types, abundance of metal and wood, parts and spare parts of firearms and abundance of amorphous mass of metal (residues of cartridges-bullets-casings) plastic and wooden parts of firearms.

In addition, in a subsequent search of the citizen’s home, three firearms of various calibers, a repeating war rifle, two carbines and 1,818 cartridges of various calibers were found, confiscated and subsequently removed. The local man was arrested and charged with violations of weapons legislation, explosion and aggravated damages, while the preliminary investigation is being conducted by the Heraklion Security Sub-Directorate.
