EODY carried out an action for the information and vaccination of the homeless living in the port of Piraeus on Wednesday afternoon, in collaboration with the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, Doctors of the World and OKANA.
The action took place 10 days after the visit of the Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, who promised to send a mobile vaccination unit to immunize the homeless who had not yet been vaccinated, but also to personally arrange for those who are hesitant to meet with him. Professor Sotiris Tsiodras.
Professor Tsiodras, the President of EODY Theoklis Zaoutis, the Deputy Minister of Welfare and Social Solidarity Domna Michailidou, the Secretary General of Social Solidarity and the Fight against Poverty, George Stamatis and the President of OKA of coronavirus vaccination, while answering their questions about the safety of vaccines.
In addition to the vaccinations that took place, the EODY team provided rapid test to anyone who wished, while at the same time sleeping bags, blankets, winter clothes and food were distributed to everyone.
Vaccination in Piraeus is part of a wide range of initiatives undertaken by the state to protect vulnerable groups against coronavirus, with the systematic contribution of Civil Society.
The action will be repeated, in the context of the ongoing effort to expand the vaccination coverage of the most vulnerable.
