At the same time, he referred to all the actions of the Ministry of Education in the schools of the Region of Thessaly with “the aim of the safe return of students and teachers to the school environment”.

Mrs. Makri emphasized that “99% of the schools in the four Prefectures of Thessaly are operating normally and classes are held during the day, while twenty-one school units have been relocated to neighboring schools.”

“We are particularly sensitive to the issues of special education and training and listen to the problems faced by people with disabilities. For this reason, we have started the dialogue process with the respective social groups in order to plan actions that will strengthen the institution of public IEK Special Education”, said the deputy minister.

In the context of the overall planning for the management of crises and post-traumatic stress, YPAITHA “in collaboration with the Center for Child Mental Health and, specifically, with professor Ms. Hatzichristou Chryssi and her colleagues from the School Psychology Laboratory of the Greek National Academy of Sciences, implements the program for the strengthening of mental resilience as well as the training and development of appropriate skills”.

In addition, the updating and certification of professional outlines and training guides by EOPPEP is implemented. “At the same time, we are investing in continuing to strengthen lifelong learning, to bridge the skills gap, and we are promoting a program for 100,000 people to take part in lifelong learning in IT. The program will be implemented with the cooperation of several ministries and with the Association of Informatics Companies of Greece with intensive trainings, in new technologies, mainly for final students and graduates of all specialties of IEK and HEIs” argued Mrs. Makri.

At the same time, Mrs. Zetta Makri spoke about strengthening the institution of public Special Education Vocational Schools by increasing the network of these structures in other cities of Greece, with trainings for teachers, trainers and VET executives, as well as evaluation of VET structures and factors.
