To be found guilty of manslaughter the 70-year-old who is accused of killed his 41-year-old son, last October, in the area of ​​Menemeni, the Prosecutor of the Headquarters requested from the Mixed Jury Court of Thessaloniki. The Court adjourned until 11/24, when it will announce its verdict.

The family tragedy was revived in the Criminal Court room, on whose bench sat the accused as a child killer, who after his act tried to end his life by taking pills. According to the indictment, he inflicted 18 wounds with a hatchet on his son’s head, fatally injuring him. His death, according to the forensic findings, was attributed to traumatic brain injury.

The crime was discovered when the 41-year-old’s mother returned to the apartment to find her son in a pool of blood and her husband unconscious next to him.

According to the case file, father and son often quarreled due to the second’s drug addiction. “That morning he asked me for money to buy drug pills. I gave him 20 euros […] He returned later with a box of pills. Then he asked me for 2,000 euros to buy more pills to sell in Samothrace,” the accused said, presenting his own perspective of the events. As he pointed out in his apology, when he refused to give him any more money, the 41-year-old attacked him with a crutch, hitting him on the head, where he had an old trauma. Then, as his advocates reported, the elderly man he blurted, grabbing the hatchet with which he beat his son to death. “I didn’t know what I was doing. When I realized I killed him I took the pills to leave with him,” he apologized.

He was taken to the Hospital “G. Papanikolaou” where he remained for hospitalization. He was asked to apologize a month later when his health condition allowed and he was remanded in custody. He has been temporarily detained since then.
