Two people who tried to defraud five women in the area of ​​Serres on the same day were arrested by police officers of the local Security Directorate.

It is a 45-year-old man and a 39-year-old woman, of Bulgarian nationality, who, according to the Police, together with their accomplices, organized themselves into a criminal group, with the aim of deceiving citizens by telephone.

In particular, they called by phone pretending to be doctors and relatives of citizens, who were allegedly seriously injured and asked for large sums of money, in order to undergo immediate surgery.

Using the above method, on Thursday they demanded the sum of 56,000 euros from a 48-year-old woman in Serres, but they were spotted and immediately arrested by the police.

It was also established that on the same day they had tried to defraud four more women, aged 60 to 91, in Serres, but without succeeding.

A vehicle used by them and two mobile phones found in their possession were seized.

Those arrested, with the case filed against them, were taken to the Prosecutor of Serres. The police investigation continues for the identification of the accomplices, but also for their possible participation in other similar criminal acts.
