Charity dinner with Bela Gil and Paula Lima raises funds to support black women

by

Three years ago, amid the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, social scientist Aline Odara mobilized a group of friends to help black women during the pandemic — one of the most affected sections of society in Brazil. The proposal gave rise to Agbara, the first philanthropic fund for black women in the country.

Between 2020 and 2023, more than 2,500 black women were assisted with technical training and financial resources. The project also promotes monitoring and advice for a period of up to six months, in addition to combating structural racism and encouraging female empowerment.

To continue activities and expand services, the expectation is to raise R$1.5 million by the end of the year. On Monday (6), the Agbara Dinner – Empowering Black Women will take place at 7:30 pm, to raise funds to support and strengthen the exercise of economic rights for black women and the LGBTQIA+ community.

The event features the culinarist, TV presenter and member of the Agbara board, Bela Gil, as master of ceremonies, and the singer Paula Lima in the musical shows. The menu is designed by chef Manoela Zarzur and features cold and hot canapés, consommé, a dessert island and an exit table.

Scheduled to take place at Espaço Wood, in Brooklin, west of São Paulo, the dinner will be served to 200 people. 60% of the proceeds will go to projects and initiatives for black women and 40% to the fund structure.

To support the cause, it is possible to purchase sponsorship shares or purchase invitations to participate and attend the dinner. Those who wish can also buy seats and donate so that other black women can participate in the event.

The individual ticket costs R$800.00 and includes the complete dinner with drinks, dessert and parking (valet). Reservations must be made directly via WhatsApp (19) 9 9812-7613, with Regina.
