The 33-year-old driver of the car who ran over the 53-year-old grandfather who was holding his 4-month-old granddaughter in his arms, was given a deadline to apologize tomorrow, Tuesday, November 7, resulting in the tragic death of the baby, last Saturday in Volos.
Despite the fact that the doctors fought to keep the child alive, they did not succeed.
According to the local website gegonota.news, the young driver claimed to the competent investigator that he maneuvered to avoid the 53-year-old who was thrown in front of him, as a result of which he was swept away, lost control of the machine, overturned and crashed into a parked vehicle .
However, according to ERT, there is a witness who reports that he saw the driver in question making maneuvers on Iasonos Street, long before he reached the fatal point of the traffic accident.
The driver was tested for alcohol consumption, but the results are not yet known.
The driver of the machine, after dragging the grandfather with his granddaughter, was left injured on the asphalt, while the machine without the rider started for another 70-100 meters from the scene of the tragic event. The shocking thing about the traffic accident is that the grandfather was sitting with his wife in a restaurant on Antonopoulou. After a while, his daughter, son-in-law and his 4-month-old granddaughter arrived. So, wanting to help, he crossed Iasonos Street, took the baby without its stroller and tried to return the same way, crossing Iasonos at the height of Antonopoulou.
The 53-year-old was found on the road dragged by the machine and the baby too, hitting the skull. In the sudden and tragic event, the parents of the unfortunate infant were also present and his grandmother, who threw herself on the street, took the infant in her arms and a passing taxi, stopping to see what was happening, took them to the Volos Hospital.
The charge against him is dangerous driving – there is a witness who testified that he saw the rider of the motorcycle maneuvering on Iasonos Street, long before he reached the fatal point of the traffic accident – and based on the new PC and Article 290 paragraph d .if death results, the charge is a felony.
