The trial of Roulas Pispirigou for the deaths of her two youngest children, Malena and Iris, was suspended by the MOD for December 15, a process that will be conducted without the presence of Civil Justice.

With the start of the 35-year-old’s second trial, the court dealt with procedural issues, with the main issue being the representation of the father in the position of the accuser, opposite his ex-wife.

Thus, the request of the children’s father for the appointment of a lawyer to support the charge through Legal Aid was submitted to the court, which, however, was submitted to the competent services by the deadline.

The District Attorney requested that the request of Manos Daskalakis be rejected, although the applicant meets the financial criteria, as it was not submitted a month before as required by law, but on November 1st. “The request is submitted abusively and to avoid the trial. It is not possible that the 2 attorneys-at-law decided to cooperate and did not inform him of the procedure required. I recommend the progress of the trial,” said the prosecutor’s office.

The court accepted the prosecution’s proposal and thus the trial will be held with the permission of the Prosecution (Civil Proceedings) and Manos Daskalakis to appear as a witness in the case.

Earlier, a request to postpone the trial submitted by Mr. Daskalakis was rejected, so that he could submit a new request for Legal Aid. The adjournment was also opposed by the defense side, which requested an adjournment. “We object to the postponement of the trial. The procedure that led to the arrest of the lady is illegal, the case was separated in an unacceptable way and two Joint Jury Courts are held at the same time. It is unimaginable what is happening. During the reading of the charge, which accuses her of murdering her two little girls by suffocation, Roula Pispirigou listened with tears in her eyes to what the prosecutor read.

The court, after the jurors have been drawn, consists of three male and one female jurors, while three female regular judges sit in the Chair.
