A meeting is expected next week with the Minister of Shipping
The Executive Committee of the Panhellenic Maritime Federation is meeting on Monday 13/11, on the occasion of the complaints of shipping unions that spoke of an attempt to lay off crews, mainly in the specialties of cabin crew and assistants on coastal shipping vessels with “mutual consent”, in the context of the law 4150/2013, without the compensation paid.
As trade union officials of the shipping unions report, article 180 of the new maritime law code provides that in case of termination of the contract, the seafarer is entitled to compensation, which consists of an amount equal to fifteen days’ salary. If the solution occurs abroad, the compensation is doubled.
The agenda of the meeting of the Executive Committee is expected to examine the implementation of law 4150/2013 and the effects of its implementation, as well as the decision to not pay compensation to those dismissed pursuant to the provisions of the higher law.
According to information, a meeting of the presidium of the Panhellenic Maritime Federation with the Minister of Shipping Christos Stylianidis has been scheduled for next Friday 11/17, at the offices of the maritime federation.
