Supreme Court Intervention – Investigations into a criminal organization and express trials for fan violence

The drastic treatment of the phenomena fan violence by the prosecutor’s office, in order to investigate crimes of a criminal organization but also to bring to justice the perpetrators arrested on the spot, it is pointed out in a strict circular sent by the Deputy Prosecutor of the Supreme Court Zacharias Kokkinakis who is responsible for violence in sports venues.

On the occasion of the tragic incident of his lynching 19 years old in Thessalonikiwhich has shocked the nation, the Deputy Prosecutor of the Supreme Court, with his circular, puts the prosecutors of the whole country on alert for the suppression of the phenomena of fan violence, as he states that after the confinement of the fans in the stadiums due to pandemic, the fan violence has off the field with serious crime.

Mr. Kokkinakis for the drastic treatment of the phenomenon calls for the investigation, when there are many perpetrators, of offenses for forming a criminal organization.

To be judged within 30 days offenses for perpetrators arrested on the spot and their sentences executed in each case.

That is, not to have a inhibitor result the appeals that will be exercised by the convicts, while the prosecutor’s special mention for coordinated investigations is made for the clubs and the fan areas of the teams, as he considers that they are often “bases” of crime.

At the same time for Athens, the competent prosecutor for the field of sports, Kon. Spyropoulos started an investigation for possible detection of acts of fan violence in Athens as well, with investigations that may be organized in the clubs and gathering places of fans of various groups.
