More relevant than ever is the message inscribed on this year’s commemorative medal of the anniversary 40th Authentic Marathon of Athens 2023.

The medal bears the phrase “Irene d᾽ Ἀ Ἀ ἀν ἀν κόροτροφος” (mtf “Peace nourishes sons in the world”)”, from Hesiod’s epic “Works and Days”.

This year’s medal was created by the sculptor and painter, Vana Xenou, and SEGAS uploaded a related video from the Panathenaic stadium, where the finish of the classic Athens Marathon will take place again this year.

On one side the Panathenaic Stadium is depicted and on the other the goddess Irene holding the little Pluto and he the Horn of Amalthea, a symbol of abundance.

The image is the statue of Irene that dominated the Ancient Athenian Agora.

Irene in Ancient Greece was worshiped as a goddess. She was one of the Hours, who watched over the healthy lives of people, organized the seasons and gave balance to nature, while also helping the Olympians.

According to the message of the organization of the Authentic Athens Marathon “culture and sports are consistent with prosperity, balance, prosperity, stability and abundance. A necessary condition for all of this, Peace.”
