Young Roma attacked the policeman and tried to take his gun, which went off and fatally wounded him
The wild pursuit of a suspicious car ended in a bloody fight at midnight on Saturday in Leontari, Boeotia.
A car in which 3 to 4 Roma people were riding, was moving at a dizzying speed in Aliarto, wanting to avoid the control of the policemen who had flagged it down.
A wild chase ensued as the vehicle was driven dangerously through residential and non-residential areas, involving heavy police forces. The suspect vehicle was finally trapped in a dead end in Leontari, by an OPKE crew.
When the officers attempted to check the passengers, they were allegedly attacked from the Roma, with one of them trying to detach weapon by the police officers which and he erupted.
The bullet found the suspect who unfortunately fell dead.
Strong police forces, as well as an EKAV ambulance, quickly arrived at the scene, but it was already too late for the young man.
His body was taken to the Thebes hospital while the case is being thoroughly investigated by the Thebes Security Department.
