A fine of a total of 1,672,000 euros was imposed by the Minister of Development, Kostas Skrekas, on two multinational companies, for which the audit was completed by the Interagency Market Control Unit (DIMEA).

The fines concern the violation of article 54 of Law 5045/29-07-2023, regarding the reduction of phenomena of unfair profit.

Specifically, it is required:

  • A fine of 1,000,000 euros to the company “Johnson & Johnson GREECE – CONSUMER PRODUCTS ANONIME TRADING COMPANY”.
  • A fine of 672,000 euros to the company “COLGATE PALMOLIVE EMPORIKI (HELLAS) MONOPROSSOPI E.P.E.”

The Minister of Development, Kostas Skrekas, said: “It is now very clear to all sides that any violation will not be tolerated. The audits of our services are continuous and uninterrupted and in all cases, where illegalities are found, fines are imposed. Our government is determined to strike at the root of profiteering and to strengthen in all possible ways the functioning of the market and healthy competition for the benefit of households and all our fellow citizens.

For the government of New Democracy as well as for the Ministry of Development, the battle to deal with accuracy and profiteering is of the highest priority.”
