Three people were arrested in Thessaloniki and in the Rhodope and Evros regions for illegal migrant trafficking.

In Thessaloniki, police officers of the Immigration Management Department arrested a 41-year-old foreigner yesterday as part of patrols on Egnatia Odos, near the Kerdyllia interchange.

In a check that was carried out, it was found that the arrested person was transporting people who did not have the necessary travel documents in a passenger vehicle.

On the Egnatia street of Alexandroupolis – Komotini, police officers of the Iasmos Border Guard department of the Rodopi Police Department, arrested a truck driver, who was transporting seven immigrants and did not have a driver’s license. From the police investigation it emerged that the vehicle was reported stolen on 28-9-2023 to the Attica police department and that it also had fake license plates.

Another arrest for the illegal transport of migrants was made in a settlement of Evros. Police officers of the Didymoteichos Border Guard department of the Orestiada Police Department arrested a car driver who was transporting five immigrants into the country.

The police confiscated the vehicles, fake license plates, a sum of money, a laptop and mobile phones.
