Residents of the new Voutza saw their houses “sink” … They left immediately, but the danger still exists.
A total of three houses are in danger of being swallowed by the stream in the area of Neos Voutzas, as the subsidence, which was initially 30 points, became three meters.
Crossing the road in Neos Voutzas, what you notice is that the road has receded and if you look closer you will see that a duplex has turned towards the road and all this within 20 days in the hope that the bad weather will worsen the situation.
So far, three houses have collapsed. Experts point out, however, that the phenomenon could spread elsewhere.
“In this area we have a combination of negative morphological slopes of an unstable mantle and an excavation, made from an adjacent stream. All this together with the fact that the structures were based on the mantle and not in deeper geological layers contributed to having it. “Instability” explains the professor of Disaster Management at the University of Athens Efthymios Lekkas, emphasizing that this will worsen, especially if there are the right conditions, ie heavy rainfall.
Tomorrow, an autopsy will be performed in the area, while individual measurements will be made to clarify the quantitative characteristics of the phenomenon.
