Minister of Labor Adonis Georgiadis spoke about the new insurance bill to SKAI and the show “Kalimera” with Giorgos Autias. “I am proud that with this bill I will be able to end an injustice of many years, the difference in maternity pay between categories of workers. It was a pre-election commitment given to the Greek people by Kyriakos Mitsotakis. We are fulfilling it today and better than we had promised. From 9/24, the maternity allowance will apply retroactively”, he said.

Referring to the workers with disability problems, Mr. Georgiadis pointed out that there will be “no withholding in the disability pension”, as well as “in some other categories of workers, such as e.g. the farmers”.

“This bill has a very strong social sign”, emphasized the Minister of Labor.

“The 6% health contribution is a regulation that was generalized during SYRIZA. It is an arrangement made by SYRIZA to abolish my five euros for a hospital ticket. This is a mockery of the left, to prove once again how these people who are called sensitive and leftist, were just making fun of society”, underlined Mr. Georgiadis.

On the occasion of the arrangement included in the bill for working pensioners, the Minister of Labor clarified that “from this arrangement the working pensioner will have a benefit of 2,200 euros a year”, stressing that the stamps paid by a working pensioner will increase the replacement rate of pension. “When you also end your new job, the pension you receive will increase,” said Mr. Georgiadis.

“I am in contact with Mr. Hatzidakis and there will be an explicit exemption of working pensioners from the presumptive income,” he added.

On the occasion of the statements of the Deputy Minister of Labor Panos Tsakloglou, Mr. Georgiadis said: “There has been a great, fair reaction from the legal world for an unfortunate, very wrong statement by Mr. Tsakloglou. I want, as Minister of Labor, to apologize to all the lawyers in the country and I tell them, under no circumstances, this, in the form of televised lightness, was said at that time. This statement does not represent either the Ministry of Labour, the government, or Mr. Tsakloglou. He is 100% wrong in the way Mr. Tsakloglou expressed it.”

“There is no question of raising the retirement age,” he added.

However, Mr. Georgiadis emphasized that “pending auxiliary pensions will be reduced by 15,000”, while for seasonal workers “we are establishing that they can work up to three days a week without losing the seasonal allowance”.
