A 24-hour warning strike for today, Monday, February 7, has been decided by the general assembly of the “Union of Container Workers at the piers of Piraeus-ENEDEP”, one of the three unions of workers at the Container PC Station.
About 300 employees have gathered in the port of Piraeus with a request to sign collective labor contracts that will cover all employees, implementation of the law on Heavy and Unhealthy and re-employment and renewal of contracts of all contractors.
Police forces are outside the premises of the Piraeus Container Station, while DPort Services, the company that manages a range of port services in the commercial port, in an announcement requests the unimpeded entry of employees who want to work in the port, as provided by law. while expressing its concern about the smooth operation of the container station, referring to “an unbelievable form of manipulation instigated by party mechanisms aimed at the port”.
The gate, however, remains open and the trucks enter and leave the ships normally.
“It should be known that these schemes hinder the smooth operation of the port with disastrous results for the Greek economy, the supply chain and more than 5,000 employees and traders with the largest port in the Mediterranean,” said DPort. Services.
“Pretending and unjustified” characterizes the strike at the Container Station of the Port of Piraeus announced by the union of workers ENEDEP for February 7, the Trade Union of Companies operating in the Pier II and III of Eboi (Eboi)
The union says in a statement that it represents the strong majority of employees, as expressed in the recent union recruitments last December (participation of more than 1070 employees compared to 475 of ENEDEP).
“With the new strike mobilization, ENEDEP is trying to create a climate of unrest for reasons that have nothing to do with the real problems of the workers but with the political games of its party mandates,” the union emphasizes.
“The strike is in progress, we resolutely respond to blackmail, employer terrorism and we participate,” the ENEDEP workers’ union said in a statement.
