The response of citizens, athletes and local organizations to the voluntary blood donation that was organized yesterday in Kolonos at ATHENS SPORTS HALL (Themiskyra and Lenorman) was particularly warm.
The voluntary blood donation took place for the first time in Kolonos and was on the initiative of the Attica Regional Governor G. Patoulis. For its implementation there was cooperation with “All Together We Can”, the Medical Association of Athens, the Children’s Hospital “Agia Sofia”, the Panhellenic Federation of Volunteer Blood Donors (POSEA), the Love and Solidarity Network of Kolonos A.O. Nireas and the National Health Organization and National Blood Donation Center.
During his visit, the Attica Regional Governor warmly thanked the volunteer blood donors, as well as the medical and nursing staff who contributed to the blood donation. He also referred to the offer of voluntary blood donors, emphasizing that it is particularly important and helps decisively to cover the shortages, which are greater due to the pandemic.
On the occasion of the voluntary blood donation, the Attica Regional Governor G. Patoulis stated:
“We are actively contributing to the effort to strengthen the blood bank of the” Agia Sofia “Children’s Hospital.” Blood donation is dedicated to the World Day against Childhood Cancer which has been established on February 15th. We continue with all our strength the National effort and we remain steadfast helpers to all our fellow human beings in need. I would like to thank the doctors and nursing staff for their tireless struggle, the volunteers, the members of the associations and organizations in the area and all those who contributed to the current blood donation. Responding to the call for humanity and solidarity, we actively support our fellow human beings in need. This response gives us strength and courage to continue the offer of love “.
The Regional Governor was welcomed by Spyros Filios, President of the Love and Solidarity Network of Kolonos, the President of AS. NIREAS Lambros Kitsios, the President of the School Committees of Kolonos Anastasios Monastiriotis, the Head of collaborations and public relations of the charitable organization elpo-family supporting single-parent families Anna Grigoropoulou, the President of Athens Association of the Plato Academy “HECADEMIA”. The coordination from the side of the Attica Region was the Special Sports Associate of the Attica Regional Governor Ch. Galanopoulou.
It is pointed out that during the blood donation all the protection measures against covid-19 are strictly observed.
