Ex officio returns in the prosecution of bank executives and executives of Legal Entities under Public Law and the State, with the package of measures for justice announced by Minister of Justice Giorgos Floridis.

The issue of ex officio prosecution of bank executives was abolished three years ago, and had caused political reactions when it was raised in Parliament by Mr. Floridis, who had narrowly argued that it was his permanent personal views.

The reinstatement of the arrangements for ex officio prosecutions of bank executives and public officials, which was announced by Mr. Floridis during the presentation of all the provisions of the bill for justice and our criminal system, as the minister clarified, has the approval of both the prime minister as well as the cabinet.

Regarding the provisions of the new law which provide that for sentences over three years everyone will be imprisoned for a period, Mr. Floridis announced a broad program of the government for the establishment of penitentiaries, better places, for the detention of those who will have convictions for minor sentences.
