Next week, a 51-year-old man accused of making an appointment at a health care store for a minor student whom he harassed by sending him messages through a social networking application will be on the docket of the Three-member Court of Misdemeanors of Dodecanese next week.

The 51-year-old has already been convicted, at the end of September 2019, by the Three-member Criminal Court of Rhodes (court of first instance) for attracting children for sexual reasons, in prison for 4 years with the appeal having conditional suspensive force, while he was also fined 300 daily units at 5 euros per day (ie 1,500 euros).

Against this decision, the 51-year-old had filed an appeal, which was determined and examined in February 2023 by the Three-member Court of Misdemeanors of Dodecanese, and as no one appeared before the court, it was rejected as unsupportable.

As a result, the 51-year-old maintained the first-trial sentence that had been imposed on him and as his sentencing was pending, on June 19, 2023, he was located and arrested by police officers of the Rhodes Security Sub-Directorate.

He initiated the legal procedures for his case to be heard anew by the Tripartite Court of Misdemeanors of Dodecanese, which has been determined to take place on December 5.

According to the indictment, the 51-year-old allegedly, from the second ten days of August 2019 and for a month and a half, chatted through social media with a minor boy, aged 13 at the time, proposing to him to meet him in order to perform a sexual act with him.

In fact, on September 26, 2019, the father of the minor, pretending to be his son, talked to the 51-year-old and they made an appointment at a cafe in Rhodes, where as soon as he met him, he assaulted him.

Apologizing to the first-instance court, the 51-year-old had said that he was only talking to the minor because he thought he had a problem and wanted to help him, that he didn’t know what class he was in and that he didn’t want to hurt him and that’s why the appointment was made in a coffee shop and not anywhere else. THE he himself had admitted that he feels attracted to minors and that he had also asked for scientific help for this.
