A young Roma man in Patras ended up in the hospital after a fight yesterday afternoon, who was injured in the hand after being attacked by a native with a katana (samurai) sword.

The incident happened at approximately 6 pm on Friday on Patron Street.

Police officers of the DI.AS Team arrived at the scene. where they found Roma covered in blood on the ground. The injured was picked up by an EKAB ambulance and taken to the Pyrgos nursing unit for the provision of first aid.

The police officers of DI.AS. they searched for and located the alleged perpetrator in the area and arrested him, taking him to the A.T. Tower.

According to information, there was an earlier verbal dispute between the citizen and two Roma, with the first claiming that the two teased a relative of his and this event caused his strong reaction.

The police found the sword in the possession of the alleged perpetrator, but it is being investigated whether he has used it to confront the two people with whom they were involved in the incident.

Other information states that the two persons had a stick with nails and it is being examined whether ROMA was injured with it during the fight or with the sword they found in the citizen’s possession.
