Large discrepancies in the suppliers’ offers for the “green” electricity tariff that will apply from 1.1.2024 for the vast majority of consumers result from the parameters submitted – in accordance with the relevant ministerial decision – by the companies to the Regulatory Authority.

According to the information of APE-MBE for 5 large suppliers, the lower price it’s hers PPC at 15.932 cents per kilowatt hour.

The prices of the other four suppliers are scaled to 16.596 cents, 17.195 cents, 19,654 cents and 20,572 cents per kilowatt hour.

The above is based on the assumption that the price of electricity on the Stock Exchange in December will be 122 euros per megawatt hour.

Final January prices will be announced on January 1st so there will be a complete picture of all the suppliers active in the market. The prices will then be announced on the first of each month on the websites of the suppliers and the Regulatory Authority so that consumers can compare and choose the most advantageous offer.

Who will be included in the “green” tariff?

As a reminder, all consumers will switch to the “green” tariff from January 1st. It is estimated that more than 70% of customers will be transferred to the “green” tariff.

They are excluded those who have fixed price contracts kilowatt hour and those who also expressly state that they don’t wish the “green” tariff and choose another one of those available on the market.

In the previous days, the suppliers informed all consumers about the tariffs available from 1.1.2024 with relevant letters, e-mails, etc.

Except special invoice highlighted in green, there are still fixed tariffs highlighted in blue, floating in yellow and dynamic (for those with a smart consumption meter) in orange.

The “green” tariff was established by the Ministry of Environment and Energy in view of the expiry on December 31 of the emergency measures in the energy market that were in force during the period of the energy crisis. According to the relevant regulations, the suppliers will announce on the 1st of each month a final price (along with any discounts they apply) so that the comparison can be made easily and conditions of incomplete information or misleading consumers are not created.

The Regulatory Authority will publish by the 5th of every month the table with the tariffs of all the suppliers to further facilitate the comparison.

The relevant decision of the Minister of Environment and Energy, Theodoros Skylakakis, also required the Suppliers to publish on their website in a conspicuous place and to notify the R.A.E.Y., by December 1, 2023, all the pricing parameters of the methodology of the Special (“green”) Invoicing that will apply to each category of customers, namely the Basic Supply Price, the Fixed Supply Charge, any discounts and the prices of the Fluctuation Mechanism factors.
